Application of Emerging Cell Disintegration Techniques for the Accelerated Recovery of Curcuminoids from Curcuma longa

Curcuminoids, the bioactive compounds with many beneficial effects on human health, exist in Curcuma longa (turmeric). In present study, impact of different cell disintegration techniques to enhance total curcuminoid recovery (TC) from fresh and dried turmeric was investigated. The thermal pretreatment (TP), ultrasound (UP), enzyme (EP), pulsed electric field (PEF) curcumin (CUR), demethoxycurcumin (DMC), bis-demethoxycurcumin (BDMC) were studied. index (Zp) high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis curcuminoids performed evaluate efficiency applied techniques. With turmeric, highest 83.6 mg/g dry basis EP. structural tissue damage obtained UP achieving a level 92.5%. technology time-saving low specific energy input PEF 80.9 basis.
